With seed funding from The Schenectady Foundation, BDO was created in 2014, by local leaders, school officials, and entrepreneurs. These founding individuals saw the opportunity and need to address the serious challenges male youth are facing in school and in their communities. Using a Logic Model, BDO has created, implemented, and hosted annual conferences, weekly groups, and monthly events for primarily for primarily the middle school male. The impact of the activities are focused on supporting young men to discover that they have the ability to succeed in their communities (homes, classrooms, and neighborhoods). BDO exists to help young men realize their place in community and society.
